When are your walking tours?

Tours of historic Monterey are scheduled at 2:00 PM every Thursday, Friday,  Saturday and Sunday.

Monterey waterfront and Cannery Row walking tours are scheduled at 10:00 AM every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Our afternoon historic Monterey walking tours take you from the modern era back in time, from the Spanish explorers to California statehood,  as we visit historic buildings and hidden gardens, and learn why Monterey is the “Cradle of California”.

Our morning Cannery Row walking tours travel from end to end , enjoying the wonder of the Monterey Bay, those cute little sea otters, and walking in the footsteps of John Steinbeck’s characters from the bygone fishing and canning era.

Where do your tours go?
Our path of history will explore the Cradle of California – from the Spanish explorers to California statehood. Hear the tales of our Historic Monterey adobes and the California legacy of the residents of California’s first capital.

Monterey waterfront and Cannery Row walking tours travel from the Coast Guard Pier to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, including locales made famous by John Steinbeck. Learn the history of the Monterey fishing industry and how we became “The Sardine Capital of the  World”.

How long is a tour? Is it a lot of walking?
Our walking tours of Monterey last approximately 2 hours; We will travel approximately 2 miles, mostly level with some hills and some stairs.

Are walking tours wheelchair or stroller friendly?

Although our tours are generally accessable, some steps and hills provide challenges that we can mostly overcome, with some exceptions. Please inform us in advance if you have wheeled requirements.

Can we bring our dog?

We welcome friendly, leashed dogs on our tours, with some caveats. Please inform us in advance if you wish to bring your dog on tour with us.

Should we make reservations in advance?

Reservations are highly recommended to maximize the chances of getting the day and time you prefer.

How strenuous is the walk?
We will walk at a normal pace. Our walking tours of Monterey are mostly flat and level, walking on city sidewalks, with some slight hills and some stairs.Strollers OK.

What should we wear?
Wear comfortable shoes, since you will be on your feet for a couple of hours. Also, locals know to dress in layers – bring a sweat shirt or light jacket.

What about weather?
Only heavy rain cancels; call for updates.
